Color Charts, Copies, & Commissions - A Week of Art Creation

Exploring Gouache & More

Thank you to everyone who responded to my email last week and shared your thoughts and experiences. I was quite surprised to see so many responses, so thank you for that. It's always good to know I'm not alone in this madness of art creation :)

I have a lot to share with you this week, I hope you won't mind.

To start with, I've been exploring with gouache a tiny bit more and I've decided to try some master copies (as an exercise) and also create some color charts to understand my palette and color mixing better.

What I've noticed I struggle the most with is the color mixing so far. Maybe I'm just a bit rusty. But in time, I'll improve I hope. Here's the charts for Azo Yellow and Yellow Ochre:

I've done one small master copy as of now - it was a copy of a painting by Adelsteen Normann. I have a few more planned from different artists, and I'm mainly doing them to get to know my palette more and study some great art at the same time.

Next, I've been doing some midwinter cleaning of my apartment & studio, and I realized I still have a lot of paintings and drawings hanging around. Most of them are not even available in my Art Shop, but I've decided to change that now.

I just added a bunch of beautiful acrylic and oil paintings from the past. Most of the acrylics are bright and vibrant (fruits & still lifes, etc.) and would look great in the kitchen or dining room.

Check out all the paintings, there's some landscapes and trees as well:

Lastly, I finished up a commission of a cat portrait drawing this week. This is one of two cat portrait drawings I had as commissions recently.

That's it for this week. I'll keep on keeping on and going slow and steady.

More to come soon. Enjoy your week 🙂

📽️My Videos

No new video this week but I have a couple in progress and planning. I hope to start filming this coming week and possibly put one together for next weekend. Stay tuned :)

Painting & Language Learning Hey, how are you? I've been good :) Just painting and dealing with life & all its challenges. Learning to paint is almost like learning a new language, except it's a visual language rather than a spoken one. And there's no words either. Something you may not know is that for the past 4 years now, I've been learning a 2nd language. I started out slowly and it took me a while to figure out what I even needed to learn or what to focus on. I'm learning Malay, which...

New Watercolor Paintings Hey there, I hope you're doing well :) Let's talk about March. March was a month full of focus and painting for me. I was somehow able to create 58 paintings - almost 2 per day. But not all of them were good, that's for sure. I haven't shared any of my new paintings yet with anyone, so I thought I'd share some of them here first with my newsletter readers. These are my top 10 favorites from all the paintings I created. I'll share some close-ups in a minute so you can...
